Subject: The Global Fund to recruit 100 new staff / Public Seminar
on 23 June; Group Consultation on 23 and 24 June

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria plans to
recruit approximately 100 new staff before the end of this year
as it expands its secretariat to handle funding for dealing with
the three communicable diseases in developing countries.
Unlike traditional international organizations, the Global Fund
was created to embody a public-private partnership, inviting
the participation of governments as well as NGOs and private
companies, and employing people from a rich variety of backgrounds.

In the upcoming recruitment, the Global Fund is seeking candidates
with diverse backgrounds not only in public health and development
but also in finance, law, strategic planning, public relations,
IT, project management, monitoring and evaluation, and more.

Related to this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Friends
of the Global Fund, Japan (FGFJ), along with the Global Fund,
will organize a public seminar on Tuesday, 23 June 2009,
at JICA Global Plaza/ Chikyu Hiroba, Tokyo.
The seminar aims to facilitate a better understanding about
the Global Fund in Japanese society as well as encourage more
Japanese candidates to apply for the vacancies at the Global Fund.
Dr. Birgit Poniatowski, Acting Manager of Board Relations of
the Secretariat, will be introducing the work of the Global Fund.
Dr. Atsuko Aoyama, Professor of Department of Health, University
of Nagoya, and Mr. Masaki Inaba of Africa Japan Forum will be
joining as commentators.

The group consultation is also available on 23 June (02:00-04:00 pm)
and 24 June (10:00-12:00 am /02:00-04:00 pm) at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs (registration required).
